You have a unique story to tell.
And I’m here to listen.
Let’s explore the challenges you’re currently facing. Is it grief? Stress? Anxiety? I’m here for it all.
I also want to know about the experiences that have shaped you, what matters most to you, and what makes you happiest.
And most of all, I want to know the vision of your ideal life. That’ll help us create a plan for reaching your goals!
Let’s roll up our sleeves…
We’ll work as a team on that plan for a better life.
You might learn new coping strategies or ways to motivate yourself.
Maybe you want to be more creative or more organized. We can do that!
Or you might want to communicate better at work or in your relationships. We can practice setting boundaries and making your wants and needs known.
Whatever your goals, we’ll practice new skills together and between sessions to ensure you’re moving in the right direction!
I KNOW therapy works!
I wouldn’t be a therapist if I didn’t wholeheartedly believe that!
I know it works because I’ve witnessed my clients make positive, lasting changes in their lives.
And I know therapy works because it’s positively impacted my personal life, too.
Plus, the type of therapy I provide has hundreds of studies demonstrating its effectiveness. (That’s my nerdy side talking, but I promise I’m “nerdy-fun,” not “nerdy-dull”!)
The “secret sauce” of therapy…
It’s the relationship between you and your therapist.
After all, you’re going to be spending 50 minutes every week together. Of course, you want to be comfortable with that person!
My approach to therapy is interactive. When we’re together, I won’t just sit there with a notebook and stare at you silently, waiting for you to say something.
Although I will spend more time listening than talking, I will engage you in conversation and ask questions to help you better understand yourself.
But it won’t be all talk. I have plenty of useful tools and techniques to help you cope with your challenges.
I’ll be by your side every step of the way!
It really is possible to overcome the challenges you’re facing right now.
If you are ready to make lasting change, I’m here and ready to take that journey with you.
I offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation. This will allow you to meet me and give me a brief overview of what you’d like to work on. I will answer your questions, and we can determine if we’re a good fit to work together.
Call me today at (917) 524-9839 to schedule a consultation. I can’t wait to meet you!
About Judith Rosen, LCSW
I always wanted to live in New York City.
I’ve felt that way since I first visited the city when I was seven.
Exactly one week after graduating high school, I moved here to study dance, and I’ve been here ever since.
But I’m still a Michigan girl at heart. I still say “hello” to strangers and annoy people by being just a little too cheerful in the morning. Oh… and I still root for my hometown teams (Go, Lions!).
I wasn’t always a therapist!
I had a long, successful career in technology. I was a programmer (that’s what we called coding back then) and taught the first IBM PC class ever at one of New York’s largest international banks. I also created a website for fun, and it grew into one of the most popular music sites. I eventually landed a gig producing content for a radio network that transitioned into online entertainment news.
But in my 40s, I wanted to do more meaningful work. Let’s just say I didn’t want to write another story about whether or not a pop star was wearing panties the night before! I was a disaster relief volunteer at the time, working in a call center helping folks affected by major disasters like Hurricane Katrina. I loved helping folks and talking to them through difficult times.
I left my shift one day and thought, “I wish I could do this every day. Wait… why can’t I???”
So, I went back to school and got my bachelor’s degree in psychology and Master of Social Work (MSW). And here I am today… more fulfilled than ever.
An unusual path, based on what I’m passionate about…
For the past decade, I’ve been providing therapy for individuals in Astoria, Hell’s Kitchen, and the Upper West Side of New York City.
I’ve worked with many folks in creative fields, including acting, dance, music, fashion, and visual arts. As a child of musicians, a graduate of a performing arts high school, and a trained dancer, I understand the joys and challenges we artists face – like perfecting your craft for years, dealing with rejection, and your family asking why you haven’t gotten “a real job” yet. If you’ve been a performer, you know all about self-doubt and anxiety. I get it, too.
Being an ally to my LGBTQ+ friends and family is extremely important to me. I’m proud to have worked for the last seven years at Ryan Health, a leader in LGBTQ+ health care, and I’m committed to providing LBGTQ+-affirmative therapy in my practice. With me, you’ll be treated with the dignity and respect you deserve.
As for treating anxiety and ADHD, it’s simple: I have both, and therapy has worked for me. Truth is… for many years, I just thought I was “high-strung” (anxiety) and “disorganized” (ADHD). I wish I had learned earlier that both were actually conditions that can be easily treated.
Finally, after my cat, Joni, passed away in 2018, I wondered why there weren’t social workers at veterinary offices to help people grieving the loss of their companion animals. So… I Googled it! I completed the University of Tennessee’s certification program in veterinary social work and now offer pet bereavement therapy to individuals and have led support groups at Animal Medical Center of New York.
When I’m not doing therapy…
You might find me eagerly dissecting the latest episode of “90 Day Fiancé” (and ALL the spin-offs) with my friends or at the theater or opera. Yes, I love to be entertained across the trashy-to-classy continuum.
I have a “divalicious” cat named ReRe (short for Aretha Jane) who is full of “Tortitude” and very smart. I’ve taught her a number of tricks, but she’ll try to convince you that she’s the one who taught ME to give her treats when she does cute things humans seem to enjoy.
